Waste Management - Power Abuse

Waste Management released their 2nd demo on vinyl off of Painkiller Records. If you dig Boston Strangler, No Tolerance , or the Rival Mob, you'll dig Waste Management. I believe they are from Boston, MA so that whole feel of what Boston Hardcore 80's era sounded like is a huge influence to this band. 6 songs are on this record and once you pick it up, you won't stop listening to it. It's just that good. Painkiller Records released this record so go buy it from then asap.

American Nightmare/GUTG Reunion Shows

American Nightmare/GUTG just released that they will be playing two shows at the end of the year. One on December 29th in Boston and the other one on the 31st in LA. American Nightmare broke up in 2004 and have yet to reunite until now. Tickets aren't all sale yet, but they will be avaiable for purchase on Saturday, October 29th. With all the response this reunion is getting, don't be surprised when these shows sell out in a few days or even hours. American Nightmare/GUTG was a band to many that represented all their emotions. You could put on a record and relate to it from start to end. I believe that's one of the many reasons why everyone is stoked for them to reunite. Or it could do with the fact, that AN just fucking rules. Mark your calendars, because these shows are gonna be nuts. None of the other bands have been announced yet too, so expect for another "holy shit" moment.

You buy tickets here.

Expire Signs to B9

If you didn't know already or live under a rock for the past 2 weeks, Expire has signed to Bridge Nine Records. After their release "Suffer The Cycle" off of Six Feet Under Records, B9 took a liking to Expire. With the constant touring that the dudes in Expire do and dedicated to the band, Expire is an easy fit on the B9 roster. They will be recording their debut LP soon that is to be released off of B9. This Midwest band deserves it the most. They made people start looking at Midwest Hardcore closer and kept people interested in whats going on in the Midwest. That's just one reason why they deserve being on B9 besides all the heavy riffs they make. They are going on a Europe tour with Foundation at the end of the month through most of November. Even though this band blew up,  expect that when their LP drops everyone will be talking about Expire.

Bent Life Signs to 6131 Records

Bent Life announced they have signed to 6131 Records and will be releasing a 7" early 2012. Stoked that more and more bands are getting recoginzed that are from the Midwest. Check these guys out. They are rerecording their demo and that will be the 7". Agress and Long Lights Last Show

So if you are from the Midwest, you probably heard of a band from Cedar Falls, Iowa called Agress. They recently announced their last show on October 14th along sides of Long Lights(their last show as well), Expire, Diamonds R 4Eva, Black Ice (first show). This show is gonna be at Cedar Falls. If you are from the Midwest, this is something you cannot miss.

Out Crowd/Written Off Split

Both of these bands have been hitting it off lately. Out Crowd and Written Off have recently released their split on tape off of Like Glue Records. Like Glue has already sold out of this tape, but Written Off has a few up on their bigcartel. You need to check these bands out and their releases. Out Crowd has their demo on tape off of Ghetto Josh Records that is also sold out. Out Crowds demo was one of the best demos I have heard so far this year.  Written Off has a 7" off of Iron Mind Crew, but that is also sold out. Links to all these records are below. Every single song by both of these bands is amazing. I can see both of these bands staying around for a long time. Both of these bands come for the South so both of them will be going up and down the East Coast whenever they can. Go out to a show, pick up a tape or record and jam out.

Backtrack - Darker Half

Backtrack is getting ready to release their debut LP entitled "Darker Half". They dropped a song off that record almost a week. You can listen to it here. It will keep your head banging till you can get your hands on the rest of the record.

Trapped Under Ice - Big Kiss Goodnight

Trapped Under Ice have recently released more info on their 2nd LP "Big Kiss Goodnight". It is going to be released on Reaper Records like their last release "Secrets Of The World" was. The vinyl version will be coming out on Reaper Records and if you are still buying cds, you can pick up the cd version over at Good Fight Music. They have two tracks up that you can download and listen to. The tracks are "Born To Die" and "Jail". You can listen to the track "Born to Die right away, but with the song "Jail", you have to tweet about their record to download it. If you don't have a twitter, well too bad I guess. Anyways, TUI will releasing this sometime in early October so make sure you pick this up right when it drops. It won't disappoint you.

They are currently on tour, doing a handful of dates with Dead End Path up on the east coast. Go peep the new tracks on their bandcamp on the link below. You won't be disappointed if you are into speed metal.

Naysayer & Dead End Path - New Releases

Naysayer is releasing this debut LP "Laid To Rest" on Reaper Records very soon. There is preorders up now on the Reaper Records site. Personally, I have been waiting for Naysayer to drop an LP. I believe this record will be banger and will be on heavy rotation. Snag if you are interested, you would be dumb not to pick it up.

Also another band that has preorders for their debut LP is Dead End Path "Blind Faith" on Triple B Records. I saw these guys about a week back and they absolutely killed it. They played about four songs of their new record and from what I heard, those songs were fucking amazing. You can go pick up their record on the Triple B website. This band is just getting started, be on the lookout.

Kicked In - In Sessions

I have been listening to this band for awhile now and every time I lose my mind to it. Kicked In is a hardcore band from Kansas City. They are a straight edge band that sounds like Mental/The Rival Mob. Its so rad and people need to get "In Sessions" they released. Thick Skin Records should be releasing this on vinyl in July/August. Pick up that record when it drops and keep an eye out for this band.

Bent Life - Nebraska Hardcore

This band has been blowing up and will be on tour this whole month with FocusedxMinds from Wisconsin. If these bands are playing anywhere close to you, you would be an idiot if you didn't go. I had this demo on rotation for weeks now and the link is at the bottom for it. Download it, put it on your itunes and punch your screen.

Harvest/Disembodied - July 16th in Minneapolis

Harvest is returning to play their hometown after not playing for almost 12 years. Disembodied will also join them and it is rumored that this is their last show. At first the show was being held at a same venue which only held 200+ people. It has recently been moved at the Triple Rock Social Club, which makes more tickets more available now. I believe theirs show will sell out again so if you want to go, pick up your tickets as soon as possible. The show will also have Relentless, Venia, Former Thieves and Iron Rain. All this bands are from the Midwest so come out support No Coast Hardcore.

Born Low

Two words: Born Low.

Upcoming New York Hardcore. Reaper Records released their album "Reincarnge" which is absolutely amazing. Link is at the bottom of the page.

Dead End Path

This band has been blowing up recently and the tour they are about to go on will have a bunch of eyes on them. Their 7inch that was released on Triple B records entitled "Death Walks Beside Us" has been on my constant rotation since it was released. They will be releasing their first full length shortly. "Blind Faith" will be released on Triple B Records so keep an eye open for that. I am sure it will be a top favorite for everyone this year. I have posted a link on the bottom of this post where you can download two new songs off "Blind Faith" that Dead End Path already released. Check it out, they are bangers.

They will be touring the USA with Title Fight, Touche Amore, The Menzingers and some dates with Shook Ones. I'm sure they will be playing a good chunk of their new record on this tour. Go out and support if they are playing in your area.

Black and Blue

A friend of mine showed me this demo a couple days ago and I haven't been able to stop listening to it. Black and Blue are from Chicago with members of Expired Youth. Members of Expired Youth went on to form Harms Way and Thought Crusade. If you haven't heard any of those bands before, you need to check all these bands out. Anyways, Black and Blue play an aggressive style of hardcore. This sounds like early Cro-Mags and Warzone if they had a kid. The demo has 5 songs that run up to 8 minutes approximatively. It also has two sound clips from the movie Se7en which ties in with the whole feel of the songs. They are really pissed off and they want you to know that. A lot of bands are sending this message over and over that they want change with the same run of the mill lyrics. Black and Blue isn't that type of band. I get the feeling that whoever wrote these lyrics is fucking mad.

I believe they don't have tapes or anything avaliable for purchase, but you can download their demo from the link below. Don't sleep on this band, download the demo right now, then go mosh in your bedroom. Do it, you won't.

They have some releases out as of now like a split with Incendiary, a release entitled "Internal War" and another called "Suburban Discipline".

FocusedXMinds Interview

What is FocusedXMinds and How did this band begin?

FocusedXMinds is a Straight Edge Youth Crew band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I (John Taylor) and Drew Meier
had played in a couple other bands before and had always discussed how much we would like to play in a youth crew style hardcore band. He and I attended This is Hardcore this past summer and after seeing Mindset with their raw energy and passion I approached Drew knowing this was something that needed to happen. After that Drew found Chris our drummer and we got our friend Brian to play bass and we've been jamming since the end of August.

I heard the news that you have been signed to 6131. How did this come about?

After hearing some fairly positive feedback about "Straight Edge Overload" the demo we released in November we decided it was something that was worth sending out to some labels to see if they were interested. We sent it to Hellfish and React Records. and Joey ended up getting his hands on it and he approached us about releasing something with them.

What are your plans for the spring/summer?

Our spring is not going to be as busy as we had hoped, I am currently attending my last semester of college so we are trying to work around that and using whatever breaks in my classes to our full advantage. We are doing two dates with War Hound in Illinois on the 11th and 12th of February and playing Chicago on the 25th with Face Reality and Thought Crusade. In march we will be hitting up Minneapolis for the first time on the 3rd and then going to North Dakota on the fourth to play with Agress, Steppin Stone, Expire,
Life Wont Wait. March 20-27 we will be doing dates with our buddies in Big Mouth and we're gonna go out as far west as Denver but mostly doing dates in the midwest. Once summer hits we are going to try and tour as much as possible. There has been talks of touring the month of June as well as trying to head out east in May and heading back out West in July. All of it is still getting sorted out but we have plans of becoming very active as quickly as possible.

What will FocusedXMinds release in the future on 6131?

We will be releasing a 7" called "Stay Focused" with them in early may. We hit the studio for that record in early February.

I know you have your demo out. Were you guys expecting such a positive response?

I think we'd all like to say yes, but I don't know how realistic of an answer it is. We all love hardcore music so much and it is such a big part of who we all are, we just put together a demo that we were really proud of. The fact that it has been recieved so positively is unreal and we all couldn't be more greatful.

How have the local shows in Milwaukee been lately?

Milwaukee shows have been on the rise as far as attendence, crowd participation, and energy. For awhile it seemed like a lot of kids liked listening to hardcore but never really made an effort to come out to shows.Things seem to be changing and with a lot of younger faces anyone aspiring to play music or trying to tour Milwaukee should be very excited in the direction it's heading.

With all the fest announcements lately, will we be seeing you guys on one of those soon?

We're not really about how many fests we might be able to get on this year being that we haven't been that active because of the band being so fresh. We do have plans of being in california at the end of July so we'll see what that means, but we're trying to play every where, always.
As of now, they have been announced to play East Coast Tsunami Fest. Here is a link to flyer:

What will be your favorite releases in 2011?

Expire's new 7". War Hound, Big Mouth, and Agress are some homies of ours in the no coast that I'm excited to see what they put out. Doubledealer's new record as well as Joyce Manor and Rotting out's new records are all releases I'm looking forward to.

What will be playing while you guys are in the van?
Attack Attack!, Hatebreed, Ke$ha, Lights, Man Overboard, Warzone, Hawthorne Heights, and Hybrid Theory.

Do you fully endorse the saying "MIDWEST HARDCORE ALIVE AND WELL 2011"?

Absolutely. With bands like Expire, War Hound, Harm's Way, Weekend Nachos, Rattletooth, Feeding Lies, Agress, Big Mouth, Steppin' Stone and countless others I think it would be hard to argue otherwise.

Anything else you would like to say?

Hardcore is alive in 2011.

Saturday, March 26, 2011

As of now there is ten days till the first announcement of the Sound and Fury Festival. A lot of people come out for this that are from all over world. It's July 22nd till July 24th in Santa Barbara once again for the third time. If you are looking to go to a fest this summer, this isn't a bad choice at all. Plus it's in California, cannot get any better than that.
Link it below.

Here are some videos from the past years.

Tigers Jaw Interview

First of all, thank you for doing this.

What is your name and what do you do in the band?

Thanks for asking us! My name is Patrick and I play the drums.

How did you get into Punk Rock and what was your first show that you attended if you can remember?

I got into punk rock thanks to friends, and the area that I grew up in. My first show was third eye blind when I was nine years old. I was about two hundred yards from the stage, however, and didn't get to stay for "God of Wine". Lots of weed smoke.

How did Tigers Jaw come about?

Adam started the band in around 2005, with Ben joining very shortly after. We all eventually came together after becoming friends. Dennis and I are brothers, so we joined at the same time. We have all been together since around 2007.

What are some influences that support Tigers Jaw material?

I guess there are a lot of influences. Different bands/recording artists, television, and the area that we area all from. Our friends...Our friends play a big part in our lives, and are constantly shaping the way we live. So, I guess I would say more than anything, music and friends shape who we are, and therefore, the band that we are all in.

Did you guys, as a band, think that you would get this much support/following?

I don't think any of us anticipated anything, really. We are all just pretty thrilled that people enjoy what we do. But no, everything and everyone that we have been introduced to because of Tigers Jaw has been unanticipated, I would say. We've made some great friends through being a band. One, in fact, is sitting in the room above me. His name is Russell Edling. Look him up!

You guys recently went on a tour with End Of A Year in Europe. What were the high and lows of that tour?

I wouldn't say that there were any lows, at all. Some of the highs for me were meeting new, friendly and interesting people, drinking different types of beer, spending lots of time with my friends, and getting to play nearly every night. It was a really great time. Just the fact that we were in the UK was crazy enough. I would like to go back as soon as we can...

Recently, you guys released "Two Worlds" off of Run For Cover Records. How is it working with everyone at RFC?

Run For Cover is run by one of our best friends, Jeff. We're happy with all that we've done with him. He really just puts out our records, and lets us do whatever we want, in terms of creative control, etc. So, I don't think it could get any better than that...He has us stay over at his place every time that we are in the Boston area, as well. I had a nice birthday there recently, and then Jeff sat on my cake and fucked everything up.

There is a lot of positive lyrics through "Two Worlds", but there also seem to be some struggles that someone had to deal with. What influenced the lyrics on this record?

Adam, Ben and Dennis wrote the words for this album, so I can't speak for them right now. "chumbawumb" is definitely one of Dennis' major influences.

What are the touring plans for Tigers Jaw in the spring/summer?

As of now, we will be playing as often as we can on weekends, and over school breaks. We are all in school, and find that finding time to tour is pretty difficult. Check our website, tigersjaw.tumblr.com, for updates on shows that we will be playing, and things that we feel are worth posting. Not that things that we do not post are unimportant. (whet)

Any new releases that you guys will be releasing this spring/summer?

We just did a weekend with O, Pioneers!!! and talked a lot about putting out a split with them. I really love Eric and his band, so to do a split with him would be an honor. So, I believe that the split may be our next release. Keep an ear to the ground for that, however...it is a work in progress at the moment.

Thanks for your time. Anything else you would like to say?

Nope, I think that is it. Thanks again for asking us to do this!
